Last week we talked about how science fiction is a great subcategory to young adult books. That's why this week I'm highlighting a sci-fi book. The Maze Runner looks like a very good choice for our youngsters to read.
The book is like a cross between The Hunger Games and Running Man. It's about a boy who wakes up in a maze. The goal is not only to escape, but to survive. Apparently, he awakes in the maze with no memory but his name. A new person is introduced into the maze every 30 days.
Sounds like a very interesting premise. I think it is something that would be fin to read. It would get kids interested in what is going on in the story, to entice them into reading. I think an adventure story is a great way to peak curiosity and to dream up the world in which these characters find themselves.
What are your thoughts? Does this sound like a book your kids would be into?
Have you read it? What was your take on it?
