I loved these series of Young Adult books when I was younger. I feel like all the books I read were on the younger side of young adult. Now a days, I feel like young adult trends more toward older young adult.
What do you think? I'd like to take a poll to see how many people read the books that I read when I was younger. Just leave a comment at the end of the page to tell me which ones you read.
What age range do you consider young adult? I looked it up and it says 12-18. I don't know about you, but I feel like 17 -18 should be an adult book.
You are 14-15 years old when you hit 9th grade in high school. Maybe Ramona The Pest is a little young for young adult, but that's what I remember reading in middle school, so probably the lower age of middle school, maybe when I was 11.
Perhaps it's just that kids grow up so fast these days. They are exposed to so much sex and violence that I have an antiquated view of what young adult is.
However, I do remember in high school I read all the V.C. Andrews Flowers In The Attic series. Now, I wonder if that would be considered young adult? I made my mom take me to Kmart to get it. Maybe 18, but those were pretty scandalous. Perhaps my mom really didn't understand what I was reading. You know, sex, incest, murder ... simple things like that.
Here is the list:
1. Sweet Valley High
2. Nancy Drew
3. Ramona The Pest
4. The Girl With The Silver Eyes
5. Flowers In The Attic
